A T-1 line is a high-speed data line running over the existing telephone system. There are two components to T-1 Internet service: the line itself, which must be provided by the local telephone company, and the Internet connection at the far end of the line, provided by an ISP. These services are typically referred to as the line (or local loop) and the access (or port), respectively.
Both the line and the access will have individual installation and monthly charges associated with them. The monthly line charges are based on the distance that the line will run, and must be quoted individually by the local telephone company. The access charges do not depend on location, and are detailed below.
Access may be priced in two different ways. For a T-1 line, access is most commonly based solely on available speed. The maximum speed of T-1 line is 1.544 Mbps, but fractional T-1 service is available at lower speeds and lower costs.
An alternative method of pricing access is by usage. This is called metered pricing, since there is a software meter placed on the service that tracks the amount of data that travels on the line. With metered service there is a certain amount of data transfer included in the base monthly fee, with a per/Mb charge for any data transfer beyond that base amount. This is very similar to the way cell phone minutes work. Metered pricing is usually the best choice for users that require speed, but not heavy usage.
There is also an alternate version of T-1 line called a Frame Relay T-1. A Frame Relay T-1 line has the same maximum bandwidth as a regular T-1 line, but the traffic flows over a shared network in the telephone system (called the Frame Relay Network). This is not normally a problem, but the bandwidth is not quite as guaranteed as with a regular T-1. Frame Relay T-1 service will typically have a lower line charge, but the access charge is typically the same. The access charges below apply to both regular and Frame Relay T-1 service.

For all types of T-1 service, the access installation charge is $500.

Your Internet connection does not allow for:
Your Internet connection does not allow for providing any Internet service from your local network to the outside world, including local web servers, mail servers, FTP servers, etc. It is much less expensive and more efficient to have these services hosted at an ISP data center. See our hosting page for more information.
Connections to your Citadel Network connection may not be resold or otherwise provided to users outside of your organization, including to renters or hotel guests, or to users within your organization from home. If you own a hotel, apartment complex, or other business for which you would like to have Internet access available for your customers, contact us for information about special packages for your needs.
Each organization connected to the Citadel Network must have a separate account with Citadel Network. If you share a building or are adjacent to another organization and wish to share equipment, however, this is often practical and can reduce your initial investment. We would be glad to discuss this option with you.
Transmission of bulk UCE (unsolicited commercial email), also known as spam, or any other activity generally considered network abuse is strictly prohibited.
If not completely satisfied, cancel within 30 days and receive a full refund of all charges paid to Citadel Network on return of all equipment in like-new condition. All prices and terms are subject to change.
